Which Story Time is right for you?

Story times are an excellent opportunity for parents and children to learn new stories and songs, meet other parents and children, work on children's group skills, or give parents 30 minutes of free time to check out materials. Children under 3 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Jumpstart is for babies who are 6-23 months old, and an adult. It features classic nursery rhymes, finger plays, songs and books, all designed to help children develop listening skills and motor skills while learning language and story patterns. Since this is a one-on-one child and adult interaction other siblings cannot be taken
into the story time. Children must be the correct age on January 15.
  • 3 - 5 Year Old Story Time is designed for children to attend alone.
Because we gear these programs for specific ages, please do not ask us to make exceptions.
  • 4 – 7 Year Old Story Time is designed for young school age children, and includes stories, educational activities, and fun.
  • All-ages drop-in* storytimes (parents and siblings welcome) are designed for families with multiple age groups to attend together. This is an alternative for children who wish to attend storytime with a parent.
  • Toddler Time Drop-In* (Parents and Siblings Welcome) is a flexible
storytime with more songs to appeal to a younger age group.
  • Slipper Stories Drop-In*
Join us for a drop-in family storytime. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas or slippers, don't miss the fun!

*Children under 3 must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration Information

Registration starts Tuesday, January 15, 2008 for JumpStart, 3-5 year old storytime, and 4-7 year old storytime. All other storytimes are drop-in and anyone is welcome.

To register your child, call us or come in with your valid Glen Ellyn Public Library card in hand.

To register a child other than your own, you must bring a signed note from the parent or guardian and a valid Glen Ellyn Library card in either the child's or parent's name.

For "Jumpstart," children must be the correct age sometime between January 15th and March 7th.

Each child may register for one storytime, but the drop-in story times are unrestricted.

We have a different theme each week and there will be some duplication of stories within the week.

Special Needs

The Glen Ellyn Library would like to accommodate you if you have special needs. Please call 469-0879 at least 10 days in advance. Assistive listening devices are available.

We Are Here To Help

For many children, storytimes are their first experience with a group. If your child does not want to attend storytime on any given day, don't force them. He or she will be welcome the next week. Ask a staff member about any concerns.

Absences

Absences are almost unavoidable. Please let us know if your child can not attend a registered program due to illness or vacation. If you are no longer able to attend, please let us know so someone from a waiting list can enjoy story time too.

For Safety's Sake.

A parent or adult responsible for any child 7 years and under must remain in the library building during the program. Help us make your visit to the library a safe and enjoyable experience for your children.
